Topics

Health and Longevity: Let’s start at the very Beginning – Dr Jenny Goodman

If we want people to have long and healthy lives, we need to start from scratch. This includes enabling parents to become really well-nourished and detoxed before they conceive, to have all the knowledge in place to support a safe and natural birth and long-term breastfeeding, and learning how to feed kids healthy food that they will really enjoy. The talk will cover:

  • Pre-Conception Care and happy birth and breastfeeding. Avoiding antibiotics etc!
  • Teaching kids to cook, and to grow veg even if you haven’t got a garden, from an early age.
  • Empowering parents to feel that eating and living healthily are perfectly possible – and enjoyable – on a permanent basis.

Genetic Risk Factors for Ageing – Graeme Jones

The study of longevity genes is a developing science as we try and understand why, for example, some human populations reach their centenarian year, whereas others develop chronic disease at age 55.  Which genes protect us from an early death and which can accelerate our rate of ageing? This talk will cover:

  • How genetic tests may be helpful to optimisation of your patient outcomes
  • Genes that have evidence for influencing our lifespan
  • Top clinical tips to integrating DNA tests into your practice

Self-compassion, Mindfulness and Spirituality in Preventative Medicine – Oliver Barnett

Oliver will deliver an interactive workshop covering:

  • How our thoughts & emotions influence and determine our health
  • How these thoughts and emotions are inherited from the family system
  • How to deeply care for ourselves so that we can care for others
  • How to embody the change we wish to see in our patients

Chronic inflammation – finding the cause of the fire – Christine Herbert

Chronic inflammation is undoubtedly the underlying cause of most of the chronic diseases affecting most of our patients, including metabolic disease, gut inflammation, allergies, dementia and cancer. Identifying the cause of the fire is the first step to designing a successful therapeutic protocol. This talk will discuss:

  • The risk factors for and causes of chronic inflammation
  • The body systems key to the inflammatory process
  • Dietary strategies and herbal remedies to resolve inflammation

Longevity Medicine – How to live to 100 – Sarah Myhill

Life is all about energy! Almost all disease processes involve mitochondria either directly or indirectly and promoting healthy mitochondrial function is key to a long and health life. This talk will discuss:

  • Energy synthesis and free radical output
  • The impact of addictions, micronutrient deficiencies, poor glycaemic control, and toxins on mitochondrial function
  • Specific strategies that promote mitochondrial health and unbound energy till 100 years of age!

Herbalism and Longevity – Peter Jackson-Main

This lecture will discuss and promote the lifelong and habitual use of herbal medicines as a strategy for longevity, giving especial, but not exclusive prominence to the adaptogens. The talk will cover:

  • Choosing herbs to address the key mechanisms of ageing
  • Prioritising herbs according to individual constitution
  • A selection of my favourite rejuvenating tonics

The Role of Hormones in Promoting Female Longevity  – Dr Nyjon Eccles

This lecture will discuss the role that systemic and topical hormones can play in better ageing as well as nutritional strategies to improve the function of the ageing cells.

How to Grow your Practice Post Pandemic  – Dr Robert Verkerk

Although not widely publicised, whole person-centred, resilience-building strategies that form the bedrock of naturopathic practice, have provided benefits for millions over the last 2 years. Grow your pool of prospective clients by communicating about what we’ve learned from the science and how this can be used to fine tune practice and self-care guidance.
